INTRODUCTION

In the following pages you will find an introduction to the universal human rights protection system aimed at students who wish to attend the 2005 session of the Summer University on Human Rights and the Right to Education.

Online you will find the introductory course to the universal human rights protection system (Unit I), which comprises three sections :

1. an historical presentation;

2. a presentation of international instruments;

3. a presentation of the main human rights protection mechanisms.

The fourth section provides students with educational tools: a glossary, a short bibliography and a series of tests for self-evaluation.
